I have already posted about C.J.'s birthday and party. We continued on into Christmas by going down to Beaumont on Monday to celebrate with my family. We were fortunate enough to get to share some time with my parents, sister, brother-in-law and nephew, then celebrate with the entire extended family on Christmas Eve.
Since we have a 6 hour drive to factor into our Christmas traditions, we ended up driving back the night of Christmas Eve, and woke up in our own house on Christmas morning to do Santa festivities. The kids were certainly excited to see that they had indeed been good this year! (ok, so maybe C.J. didn't really understand all of that, but he was still excited!)
Our whirlwind of activity continued as we went over to Charlie's parent's house for round 2 of Christmas celebrations with his parents, brother, sister-in-law and 2 nieces. We continued our celebrating into the evening once all of his mom's side of the family crew arrived.
For us, our whirlwind doesn't exactly end there. While the presents may be over for the most part, we have spent the past few days trying to organize and find a place for everything, as well as take down all of our Christmas decorations around the house. For those of you who know me best, you know how much I love Christmas, and though I didn't get out half of them this year, you know how many Christmas decorations we are talking about. I like to end Christmas as soon as I can and switch into birthday mode for Hayley. I wish we didn't have birthday and Christmas combined so much for C.J., but with his birthday being so close just before Christmas, my little fella will just have to get use to having the house decorated for Christmas on his birthday! We just may create a "birthday tree" that we can decorate just for him to put his birthday presents beneath for his special day!
We are now almost through with our busiest time of the year. We enjoy celebrating Christmas, visiting with family and friends, enjoying the true meaning of Christmas in the birth of Jesus, and sharing joy with our children for their birthdays. We look forward to ringing in the New Year and having our little girl turn 5 at the same time!
Once it is all said and done, in less than 2 weeks we will have ... traveled around 700 miles, spent over 13 hours in the car, opened somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 presents, eaten more calories than we have the rest of the year, had one heart attack (over the credit card bill), visited with about 50 people, watched the Cowboys lose twice, tasted more than 30 different varieties of sweets, celebrated two kids' birthdays and had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
