A Week at the Beach

We have returned! We spent a week at Crystal Beach with my parents down in southeast Texas by Galveston this past week. We try to go one week every year, though we did not go last summer, but we did the two summers before that. We rent us a cabin for the week and hang out as a family.

Notable things from this trip:

Well, to start with, there was a hurricane in the Gulf. No, it didn't hit us, and we hardly saw any rain. But, we did see some of the largest waves in the Gulf that I can ever remember, and the surf come in all the way up to the dunes with the storm surge. It was an amazing sight, for sure. It did bring up quite a bit of seaweed onto the beach, but a couple of days later, most of it was cleared away.

You cannot tell a lot from this picture without knowing the area, but this is standing in the road that drives N/S out of the neighborhood onto the beach. Part of the road is covered and where you would normally be able to drive out onto the beach is all under water.

This was also C.J.'s first time at the beach. We thought he may just tickle his toes in the water and be done, but we have us a little surfer boy on our hands! He LOVED it!!! He enjoyed sitting in the water, digging in the sand, trying to eat some sand, doing a face plant in the sand. Such a true boy!

Hayley of course had a great time, too! She loves the beach. She enjoyed playing in the sand, building sand castles, and playing around in the water with Daddy.

Cousin Zachary came down to spend some time with us as well. He was a little bit timid of the beach at first, but he finally warmed up and had a great time.

Thanks to Keena's smart thinking, we had a little blow up pool on the deck of our cabin for the kids to play in. It was mostly for the babies to play in, but Hayley enjoyed it too, of course!!!

We also went into Galveston one day to meet up with an old friend of mine, Sarah. Her and her husband, Steve, live in Phoenix. Steve is currently doing a summer internship for Chevron in downtown Houston this summer, so Sarah was in town to visit. She came to play while he worked! After quite a long ferry ride over (for some reason the ferry was taking FOREVER!), we had lunch at FishTales. It was a great time to visit!

Here are some more family pictures from the trip:

And some of my favorite shots, baby feet!!!!

All in all, it was a great time to be together as family. Lot of laughter, fun times and quality time spent together!
