A Fun Weekend!

Charlie has been on vacation the past few days, so we have been able to get a lot done around the house and go a few places to enjoy some family time together close by.

We first rearranged Hayley's room to fit a desk in it to provide her a place to house her computer and to get ready for "big" school! Right now, the desk is an old secretary desk of my mom's that we have had around for a while. We eventually will get the desk that matches her bed and chest of drawers (which were mine when I was a little girl) and refinish it to match. We probably will add the night stand as well! (these were taken on my phone ... excuse the quality!!!)

We also have been working on getting a bunch of "junk" out of our house! It is amazing how much stuff you collect over time. Some things that seemed to be sentimental at the time just are not so much a few years later. Out it goes! Our garage is currently filled with stuff that we will be finding a new home for (donating or offering to others - trying not to find its way to the landfill!).

Other things around the house have included trying to finish up the kitchen, organizing what stays in the garage and organizing Charlie's office. We also worked outside a little putting new mulch in the flower beds and planting a few more plants (many of you know that a few years ago, we dug out ALL of our landscaping and have been slowly adding in new stuff each year to see how it will grow).

Somewhere in the midst of all of this cleaning, etc, we have managed to have a little bit of fun. The kids and I have been going swimming just about every morning. We also went to Nana and Gramps' lake house for a day on Saturday where C.J. had his first official swim in the lake. He went once last summer and rode in the boat, but this time he actually went swimming.

And fell asleep!

Hayley had a great time swimming in the lake as she is quite the fish this year. And, she enjoyed finding Gramps' special secret cool and shady place under the boat!

The kids also enjoyed the boat as always, and Hayley did her annual 'drive the boat' with Gramps.

We also ventured out to Canton Monday afternoon to have dinner with my parents. Now that my dad is retired, they are looking around at different areas to get an idea of where they would like to make their "retirement home". They are staying in their travel trailer in Canton, so we went over to visit and cook out. After dinner, we sat out in the shade and the kids played with chalk. Both of the kids enjoyed getting messy with the chalk, and C.J. had quite a time drawing on the cement, his face, his clothes, anyone else's clothes or legs, and pretty much anything that sat still! He looked like quite the Picasso, if I do say so myself! I forgot to take my camera with me (what kind of photographer am I???), but I did get a couple of pics on the phone of C.J.

Tonight, it is date night for me and Charlie and babysitter for the kids! Woo hooo!!!

A couple more days working around the house, then back to the working world Charlie will go. I still have the summer off. Whatever shall we do??? ;-)
